ALKYD ENAMELS
Our primary line uses synthetic enamel resins of the same quality and high standards as the automotive industry. All alkyds are high gloss (unless noted otherwise), tough, durable, flexible, and guarantee excellent corrosion resistance.
Some of the characteristics of our alkyd enamels include:
Slow and Quick Dry
Low VOC
High Solids
Oil Based
Water Based
Water Reducible
Rust Inhibited
High-heat
Traffic-marking
Marine Applications compatibility

What are Alkyd Enamels?
Alkyd Enamels are designed to air-dry into a hard, usually glossy, finish, used for coating surfaces that are outdoors or otherwise subject to hard wear or variations in temperature.
Pros of Alkyd Enamels:
Excellent weathering properties, particularly on exterior structures
Easy application with brush, roller or spray
Good gloss, flow and leveling properties result in smooth, attractive films
Good wetting properties makes them applicable over marginally prepared substrates.
Relatively inexpensive.
Synthetic alkyds have very higher gloss properties, unlike natural oils which have lower gloss abilities.
Cons of Alkyd Enamels:
Relatively poor resistance to water; thus, it’s not best suited for immersion projects or frequently wet/dry surfaces.
Relatively weak alkali resistance; will form a soap and saponify when applied over inorganic zinc, galvanized steel and concrete.
Relatively slow drying and curing, particularly at low thermal conditions.
Relatively thin films and it often require three coats for adequate protection.
